My Story

Minnesotans with disabilities need a safe place to share and voice their challenges and stresses, including their experiences of discrimination, maltreatment, neglect, exploitation, and retaliation. My goal is to help people with disabilities fulfill their dreams and aspirations. Everyone should be able to self-advocate and advocate for the human rights of others, build community, find meaningful, paid work. Together let's demand that the state of Minnesota fulfill its promise of the U.S. Supreme Court decision of Olmstead, which requires Minnesota to provide services to Minnesotans with disabilities in the most integrated setting appropriate to their needs in their communities of choice.

I am an attorney who is passionate about advocating for the human rights of Minnesotans with disabilities and other vulnerable adults in our state.  One of my focuses includes improving protections for Minnesota’s vulnerable adults and their families against retaliation, making it safer for them to self-advocate and participate in the legal process.  Other concerns that I have include guardianship abuse, the lack of investigations of abuse and neglect of Minnesota’s vulnerable adults, and the lack of financial transparency on how service providers are spending tax dollars intended to provide direct care to Minnesota’s vulnerable adults.

In addition to being a board member of Elder Care IQ, I also serve as a disability legal advisor to Elder Voice Advocates, which originally focused on the elder community, but is expanding to include people with disabilities.
